Chongqing state body launches air cargo charter flights to Hong Kong

YUMEI Air Service, a freight forwarder owned by the state-run Chongqing Transportation Holdings Group, has been authorised to market a cargo charter flight service to Hong Kong operated by Hong Kong Airlines, Xinhua reports.

A report of Chongqing Daily described the service as an attack of the monopoly developed by large domestic or foreign carriers in the air cargo charter field.

The service, flying from Hong Kong to Nanning and Chongqing then back to Hong Kong, is operated on a weekly basis and uses an A300-200 freighter that can carry up to 65 tonnes. The maiden flight flew with made-in-Chongqing laptops and automobile parts to Hong Kong.

Yumei Air Service is Hong Kong Airlines' general agent in Chongqing. Shipments using the service can be transshipped via Hong Kong's extensive network to South East Asia, Middle East, Europe and America.
