SANKYO Holding (Asia) Pte. Ltd and Yang Kee Group (Singapore) Pte Ltd have set up a joint venture company, Sankyo Global Logistics (Singapore) in the Lion City to provide what the company describes as "highly efficient and total logistics solution service".

The new joint venture, SGLS, is 60 per cent owned by Sankyo while the remaining 40 per cent is held by Yang Kee Group.

Initially, SGLS will utilize the facilities, such as operational staff, human resource, IT and finance of Yang Kee Chemical Logistics.

Kenji Omoto, managing director of Sankyo Global Logistics, said: "We are committed to become a well established enterprise providing highly efficient total logistics solution services to our international and Asian Pacific customers."

With this arrangement SGLS will start professional operations in logistics/warehousing in Singapore and provide unique services to its clients, Mr Omoto said, describing the new joint venture as "a company on the move and a company working together with you (clients)".

Mr Omoto said the teamwork in the new company will help bring about changes in the market and inspire growth by providing end-to-end logistics services. It will also offer customers value-added, integrated and customized logistics solutions covering a range of businesses.

The new managing director said: "Our immediate target it to provide a combination of warehousing, local transportation/handling services and then linking up with international transportation and logistics solution with various business models."
