Deferred 8,500-TEU YM Upsurgence delivered, joins Asia-Med service
TAIWAN's Yang Ming Transport has received delivery of the 8,500-TEU YM Upsurgence, the fourth of five same-size ships ordered in August 2007 from the China Shipbuilding Corp (CSBC-Taiwan).
They were initially scheduled for delivery in 2011, but deferred by 13-15 months due to the financial crisis, reports Alphaliner. The YM Upsurgence is now assigned to the Asia-Med CKYH Loop 2 and follows the YM Unanimity that was delivered in August. Delivery of the last unit in the series, the YM Unicorn, is expected in March.
A previous series of five similar ships were delivered by CSBC to Yang Ming in 2008-2009. All are owned by All Oceans Transportation Inc, the shipowning arm of Yang Ming Transport Corporation.
