DHL expands road freight network in Kazakhstan to Europe, Russia, China
DHL Freight, a provider of road freight services in Europe, has opened a new office in Almaty, Kazakhstan, to offer direct transport routes to Europe, Russia and China.
"This new transit point makes for faster delivery times - not only for Europe, Russia and China but also within Kazakhstan itself. At the same time, this investment will contribute to further economic growth of this country, which has the key role as the access point to Central Asia," said Stefano Arganese, CEO of DHL freight Central Eastern Southern Europe and Americas, Middle East and Africa.
The new facility is situated in the largest warehouse park in the fast growing industrial area close to Almaty, Kazakhstan's largest city. It is located at the crossroads of two major transport routes: the Transport Corridor Europe Caucasus Asia (TRACEA) and the Great Almaty Circle Motor Road (BAKAD).
The premises in Almaty offer bonded warehousing and customs brokerage services, online tracking, registration and maintenance of goods via a warehouse management system, and container terminal services, including cross-docking, shunting, crane services and bonded storage.
The company has been operating in Kazakhstan since 2007, co-ordinating ocean and air freight transport from six offices across the country.
