SITC receives first of two 1,043-TEU newbuildings from Dae Sun yards
SITC has taken delivery of the first of two 1,043-TEU containerships ordered in November 2010 from the Dae Sun shipyard in South Korea, for deployment on a China-Haiphong, Vietnam rotation.
The SITC Qingdao was linked to a separate order for two sister ships that was announced in January 2011 but cancelled by August, reports Alphaliner.
It said the SITC Qingdao is the 10th ship to be delivered as part of a newbuilding programme that commenced at the end of 2010, comprising 12 ships of 1,040 to 1,100 TEU and one of 953-TEU that were ordered from shipyards in China, Korea and Japan.
The first newbuilding, the SITC Kwangyang, was delivered in late December 2011. The last three are scheduled for delivery over the next three months.
