FedEx launches near real-time tracking software with pre-set eco data
FEDEX has launched its SenseAwareSM service, a near real-time shipment in Australia and Singapore following the launch of next-generation information service SenseAware 2000, powered by FedEx.
The award-winning SenseAware is a comprehensive tracking service that provides near-real-time data about customer shipments and the ability to share that information with business partners.
The multi-sensor device developed by FedEx Innovation team is integrated with a web-based application to allow customers to access shipment statistics while still in transit including precise temperature readings, exact location, and alerts for when the shipment has been opened or exposed to light.
The customer can set up a geo-fence along the actual route for the shipment with alerts to notify of deviation from this re-established route, and altered arrivals at specified times along the route, also available on ground shipments.
It also sets up permission-based access to share predetermined data with business partners and other interested parties.
FedEx Express Asia Pacific president David Cunningham said the expansion of SenseAware in Asia Pacific allows for "actionable intelligence" from their shipments.
"This is truly evolutionary for our customers in terms of the way they view and monitor their critically sensitive shipments," he said, and of particular benefit to shipments from healthcare, life sciences, aerospace, and the arts and financial sectors.
Initially available in the US only, the SenseAware service can now help customers monitor shipments and inventory in Australia, Singapore, Canada and the UK, and will further expand into other markets in 2013.
The SenseAware service is also available for a growing list of air and ground transportation carriers, delivering more transportation options to customers in order to better fit their specific needs and still benefit from the peace of mind and quality assurance provided by SenseAware.
The system is available beyond the FedEx network with the following carriers: Delta Air Lines (including Delta Connection Carriers); Southwest Airlines and United Airlines mainline jets.
