Atlas Air Worldwide Holdings takes delivery of B747-8 Freighter
ATLAS Air Worldwide Holdings Inc (AAWW), a global provider of outsourced aircraft and aviation operating services, has taken delivery of its seventh Boeing 747-8 Freighter, which has gone into service for DHL Express.
This aircraft will be operated by its unit, Atlas Air, in the Polar Air Cargo Worldwide express network under an ACMI arrangement for the benefit of DHL Express and Polar's other customers.
A statement from AAWW said the new freighter is its sixth 747-8F aircraft to service DHL Express since in October. These are the first of their type to fly on behalf of DHL Express and are being used to operate in the Asian and transpacific markets. The newest aircraft replaces a Boeing 747-400 Freighter.
Atlas Air expects to receive two more 747-8Fs in the first half of 2013, bringing its total fleet to nine freighters and completing the delivery of its order programme.
