FPS Philippines service finds domestic demand spurs international trade
Famous Pacific Forwarding Philippines Inc, a member of the Hong Kong-based FPS network of independent forwarders and NVOCCs, has launched a two-way domestic ocean services to link Manila and Cebu to key ports throughout the islands.
"While there has been a downturn in international cargo, there has been an upward trend in the domestic sector. Domestic services have been added in response to demand from existing clientele. Few international forwarders engage in domestic services, and this brings us a step closer to offering a total integrated logistics service," said Famous Pacific Forwarding director Marina Rollan.
"This has been caused by growing demand for goods from Manila to the southern Philippines, construction materials, feeding the growth in commercial outlets and providing distribution of finished products," she said.
The new weekly services to Davao, Cagayan de Oro and the other main southern destination ports, cater to both FCL and LCL traffic, said the FPS statement.
By connecting with its widespread of international groupage services, FPS offers through-services between internal Philippine points and many major global ports, said the FPS statement.
In addition to containers, Famous Pacific Forwarding is also offering ro-ro services, and plans to add conventional capacity at a later date.
