World's largest jetliner - Airbus A380 - flies new Dubai-Moscow route

RUSSIA's Moscow Domodedovo Airport has welcomed the launch of a daily service from Dubai to Moscow by the world's largest passenger airliner, the Airbus A380, operated by Emirates airline. The aircraft exceeds the height of an eight-storey building.

"Airbus A380 took its first flight to Russia in 2009, landing at Moscow Domodedovo Airport," said director Igor Borisov in a release. "Today, three years later, Domodedovo again sets the scene for a significant event in Russia's civil aviation. It validates Domodedovo's position among world's most modern airports."

The airport has purchased all the necessary equipment to provide for the Airbus A380 ground servicing, including a two-level boarding bridge Apron Drive, capable to dock to the tree doors (one on the upper deck and two on the lower deck). Passengers will enjoy the newest in-flight entertainment network, wireless Internet access, and rest area with bar and shower spa.

Flight Dubai-Moscow (EK 131) arrives at Domodedovo airport at 2305 hrs, and departs from Dubai at 1750 hrs. On the return leg, Moscow-Dubai flight EK 132 departs at 0105 hrs and arrives in Dubai at 0620 hrs. Flight time is five hours.

In 2011 total passenger traffic at Moscow Domodedovo Airport amounted to 25.7 million, making it one of the busiest airports in Europe.
