MSC takes delivery of 8,762-TEU Agadir
MEDITERRANEAN Shipping Company (MSC) has received the 8,762-TEU MSC Agadir, which is the third in a series of six ships ordered in early 2011 from Hyundai Samho by the Ofer Brothers and Schulte Group with the backing of a long-term charter from MSC.
These six ships form part of a wider programme for 12 wide-beam newbuildings, ranging in size from 8,762 to 9,000 TEU with a high reefer capacity of 1,000 reefer plugs. The vessels are expected to be deployed on the South America trades, reports Alphaliner.
The ship will make her maiden voyage on MSC's Asia-Haifa-US East Coast 'Golden Gate' Pendulum service. She follows the MSC Arica which was delivered in September.
