SDV opens first certified green warehouse in Singapore
SDV, a global supply chain provider and subsidiary of the Bollore Group, has officially opened its new SGD55 million (US$45.1 million) green warehouse in Pioneer Turn, Singapore.
The company's Singapore branch provides value-added transport and logistics solutions for its customers which are major players from the luxury retail industry to the aerospace, healthcare and oil and gas sector as well as flavour and fragrances.
The four-storey ramp-up new facility has nine floors of production and office space, and covers an area measuring 42,000 square metres. It is the first warehouse in Singapore to be Green Mark Platinum certified and is also the largest logistics centre in Asia to be under LEED Gold certification.
The project embodies the values of the company's Save programme (sdv.com/saveprogram), which involves the design of eco-friendly solutions for customers to reduce CO2 emissions.
Herbert de Saint Simon, CEO of SDV Worldwide said, "The warehouse structure has been designed to be energy-efficient and waste management systems are in place to ensure that the site is sustainable."
Key features of this green warehouse are: the thermal insulation of the building, innovative lighting technologies, efficient air-conditioning plant system, water efficiency by collecting rainwater and distributing it for plant irrigation and toilet flushing, recycling of packaging materials in the warehouse, recharge stations for electric vehicles in the parking area, and a Building Management System (BMS) to control, monitor and optimise energy usage and the green features of the building.
