Goodman builds 10th facility for Amazon in Europe with new warehouse
AUSTRALIA's Goodman Group has signed a contract to develop for e-commerce provider Amazon a logistics centre with 90,000 square metres of storage and office space in Lauwin-Planque, Nord-Pas-de-Calais, France.
The new facility will be the tenth developed by the group for Amazon in Europe. On completion of the warehouse, the logistics firm will continue as the property manager. Since 2006, it has developed one million square metres of warehouse space for global and local e-commerce companies across Europe.
To build the logistics centre Goodman acquired 170,000 square metres of land in Lauwin-Planque with good links to the A21 and A1 motorways, reports the UK's Transport Intelligence.
It has previously developed 106,000 square metres for Amazon in France at Orleans and Montelimar. The Goodman European Logistics Fund (GELF) acquired both developments and the warehouses are managed by an in-house property services team.
Jean-Francois Mounic, regional director for Southern Europe, said: "This is the third development that we have undertaken for Amazon in France. We were one of the first real estate businesses to recognise the potential of the e-commerce sector and this latest project demonstrates that our customers recognise our expertise in the development of high quality e-commerce logistics space."
