China's auto sector praises Le Havre for its high-grade ro-ro service
CHINESE auto trade group CALA (China Automotive Logistics Association) has cited the Port of Le Havre for the first time ever for it high level service during the group's general assembly in Chengdu.
The CALA association which groups together automotive logistics provides, cited the port's dedicated facilities as providing a superior service to other European ro-ro terminals. The association includes 145 member companies that move Geely, Brilliance, Dongfeng, FAW and Foton vehicles.
The reward recognises Le Havre's high-level service quality and customers relations since it started opened with CALA in 2008. China produces 18 million vehicles annually, around a quarter of global production, which Le Havre is keen to capture supported by its RORO MAX project. The port aims to handle 500,000 vehicles by 2015 up from 2011's 365,000 vehicles.
The project includes extensions so as to reach an area of 120 hectares by 2014. Le Havre keeps developing services and added value in order to attract new customers and offers a new range of solutions: a dedicated terminal, specialised professionals, rapid inland connections to serve a large hinterland, simplified administrative procedures and secure operations.
