Eight expressways in Guizhou open to traffic by the end of the year
THERE will be eight expressways opened to traffic in southwest China's province Guizhou by the end of the year, amounting to a total 2,600 kilometres of highway linking 60 counties while 13 expressways will be under construction by the end of the year, reports Xinhua.
The provincial government has invested CNY70 billion (US$11.24 billion) on the transport construction in the last year. The first 10 months of this year, investment increased 13.8 per cent year on year to CNY50 billion, of which the investment on expressways reached CNY41 billion, up 12.2 per cent, and that on the national and provincial trunk lines and rural roads.
According to the province's plan, the expressways' mileage in Guizhou is expected to reach 4,500 kilometres by 2015.
