Famous Pacific Shipping member opens near UK's East Midlands Airport
FS MACKENZIE - the UK member of the Famous Pacific Shipping (FPS) network of independent freight forwarders - has opened its fifth office, located at East Midlands Airport's cargo terminal.
The new office will provide a full range of air and ocean forwarding services, with particular emphasis on the company's well-established ocean NVOCC services, and those of its fellow FPS members. FS Mackenzie offers weekly export and import LCL services to over 120 ports worldwide and in the UK.
The new FS Mackenzie office will also work in close collaboration with its Heathrow counterpart, to generate air freight business through East Midlands Airport.
FS Mackenzie's Midlands office is headed by regional manager Steven Alder, who has 20 years' experience in freight - largely gained in operating ocean consolidation services.
"We chose the Midlands for the next stage in our UK expansion, due to its strong manufacturing. This new office enables us to service our existing client base better and to appeal to new customers throughout the Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire, Leicestershire and South Yorkshire areas," said FS Mackenzie managing director Alfred Steiner.
"We see the Midlands as an area with great potential for our company: not just for ocean consolidations, but also for airfreight, and road freight into Europe and to our specialist areas such as Russia, Ukraine and Eastern Europe," Mr Steiner said.
In addition to its latest office, the company has UK branches at Basildon (headquarters), Heathrow, Liverpool and Dover. It specialises in the retail sector, FCL and LCL, project and outsize cargo, hazardous shipments, books, wheeled cargo (rolling and containerised), hanging garments, glass and ceramics, metals and personal effects.
FS Mackenzie was founded in 1951 as a UK-based domestic transport operator, and has since expanded to a network of 15 offices in Europe generating over US$100 million in sales per year, and employing 220 people. FPS is a forwarding network of companies with a permanent secretariat in Hong Kong.
