Lufthansa signs with India's IBS to replace 30-year-old US software
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM's Technopark-based IT provider IBS has signed a contract with Lufthansa Cargo for the implementation of its software to manage the its freight movement worldwide, said an IBS statement
IBS chairman VK Mathews said the contract as one of the largest IT system deals by Lufthansa Group. The new iCargo software replaces the legacy American Unisys system that Lufthansa has used for 30 years.
The iCargo would have a user base of more than 4,000 staff members and interface with other system applications within the other IT systems used by the airline, reports the Press Trust of India.
It is an integrated solution that supports the requirements of airlines' freight business, providing enhanced web-enabled features that optimise operations, enhance profitability and provides scalability, IBS said.
