APL Logistics buys Carmichael, firm's long-time customs broker partner
APL LOGISTICS, the supply chain management unit of Singapore's NOL Group, has acquired US Customs brokerage and trade compliance firm Carmichael International Service, it was announced in a joint statement.
For nearly two decades, APL Logistics has had a close working relationship with Carmichael to provide US Customs brokerage and trade compliance advice. Based in Los Angeles, it also operates in New York/New Jersey, Chicago, San Francisco/Oakland, Seattle/Tacoma, Miami, Boston, Atlanta, Savannah and Memphis..
"This acquisition is vitally important to APL Logistics' strategy to strengthen the integration of our international supply chain services," said APL Logistics president Jim McAdam.
Said Carmichael owners John and Vincent Salvo in the statement: "Carmichael is proud to become part of the APL Logistics organisation. After 50 years of operating successfully as an independent company, we're excited that our customers can now enjoy the full range of services offered by APL Logistics' global network." The two will stay on under APL ownership.
Los Angeles-based Carmichael is one of the largest independent customs brokerage, trade compliance and consulting specialists in the US, employing 200 professionals in 10 key US metropolitan markets.
