China's logistics info portal to be developed with online giant Alibaba
CHINA'S national transportation logistics public information platform, aka LOGINK, has signed cooperation agreement with the country's largest B2B e-commerce website Alibaba, Xinhua reports.
The two will share information and join hands in lowering IT cost for logistics companies as well as in helping them expand their market.
Zhejiang Transport Department vice director Zheng Liming said the two sides will set up a standard for e-commerce logistics service information exchange and promote closer connection between the two ends of the logistics supply chain. Logistics companies joining LOGINK can now expand their business to the e-commerce area via Alibaba.
LOGINK is a project lead by Ministry of Transportation and Zhejiang province government. The platform has been connected to the information portal in Japan, Korea and the EU. Information on traffic, logistics, manufacturing and trade is exchanged via the platform, which now has more than 100,000 users.
Alibaba develops logistics sector since 2011, which now has more than 2,000 corporate users.
Alibaba China general manager Ye Peng said that the cooperation will provide users of Alibaba with more choices and greater convenience in cargo tracking. The two parties may develop financial services in the future, said Mr Ye.
