Expressway network in Gansu province increases length 1,435 kilometres
BEIJING has announced that its national expressway network in northwest province Gansu has been extended to 3,753 kilometres over nine routes and to 5,188 kilometres over 17 routes at a cost of CNY165 billion (US$26.45 billion), thus adding 1,435 kilometres to the system, reports Xinhua.
The national road in Gansu has increased length 4,849 kilometre over 10 routes to 9,809 kilometres over 26 at a cost of CNY60 billion.
The central government also plans to build expressways of 2,378 kilometres in poverty-stricken areas, including northwestern Ningxia Autonomous Region in the Liupanshan area, Shanxi province's Qinbashan area and Tibetan areas in four provinces, namely Qinhai, Sichuan, Yunnan and Gansu, with an investment of CNY166.9 billion in the 12th Five-Year Plan covering 2011 to 2015.
Expressway lengths in these areas are estimated to reach 2,200 kilometres by 2015, and the planned expressway routes are expected to be completed by 2020.
