Shandong 10-month container volume up 11.8pc to 15.78 million TEU
FROM January to October, sea ports in eastern China's Shandong province lifted 15.78 million TEU, an increase of 11.8 per cent year on year, Xinhua reports.
In the same period, throughput tonnage of these ports totalled 890 million tonnes, up 10.6 per cent. Foreign trade tonnage increased 1.3 per cent to 497 million tonnes.
The three largest ports in the province, Qingdao, Rizhao and Yantai handled 749 million tonnes, taking up 83.7 per cent of the total. Qingdao handled 340 million tonnes, Rizhao 240 million and Yantai 168 million tonnes.
In the first 10 months, the province recorded a road and waterway cargo volume of 2.57 billion tonnes, up 5.8 per cent year. Passenger volume increased five per cent to 2.12 billion people.
Road cargo increased 5.9 per cent to 2.45 billion tonnes, while passenger climbed 4.9 per cent to 2.09 billion person. Waterway cargo rose 4.9 per cent to 120 million tonnes, while passenger cargo increased 14.5 per cent to 23.98 million tonnes.
