Qingdao-Dongjiakou to build world's largest deep water port
QINGDAO-DONGJIAKOU port in eastern China's Shandong province has designed three major harbour basins with 112 berths and has now completed construction of a 400,000-tonne berth, the largest deep water facility in the world, reports Xinhua.
At present, the port's 20 ongoing and confirmed projects will involve an investment of more than CNY1.15 billion (US$18,54 million), of which over 10 billion has been invested on projects involving petrochemical refining, green steel products, chemical engineering, marine equipment and helicopter manufacture.
Besides, the bonded zone expansion project will start construction with a planning area of 20 square kilometres, which will lay out a solid foundation for building a "fourth generation logistics port" and international free trade port.
