TOC Container Supply Chain conference stages reefer meet December 4

TOC Cold Chain conference, part of the wider event TOC Container Supply Chain from December 4-6, will include a perishables logistics and transport forum including a session on "Best Practice in Cold Chain Operations for Reduced Spoilage".

Dole Fresh Fruit International director Eduardo Kerbel will look at the key practices and responsibilities in the cold chain and the importance of cross-industry collaboration of different groups of Production, Quality Control (QC), Research & Development (R&D), logistics, operations, transportation, receivers and handlers at destination.

"Too often each group deals with their own challenges and hurdles and loses perspective on how the way they handle the product affects the outcome," Mr Kerbel said.

"When something goes wrong production blames transportation, transportation blames the market, customers blame sales and sales blames production, QC and even R&D. This becomes a vicious circle over who is at blame; the point of it is... everybody loses," he added.

Dr Kerbel will be joined by speakers representing all sectors in the container supply chain, with executives from Kraft Foods, Maersk Line, FloraHolland, APM Terminals, ZIM, Purfresh, and Damco all in attendance.

TOC Cold Chain is organised in partnership with Cool Logistics and supporters include Georgia Tech Supply Chain & Logistics Institute and the Global Cold Chain Alliance.
