OW Bunker takes over Bergen Bunkers to penetrate Scandinavian market
MARINE fuel and lubricant suppliers Bergen Bunkers and OW Bunker have confirmed their strategic cooperation, which will lead to OW Bunker acquiring the entire share capital of Bergen Bunkers AS.
Bergen Bunkers has offices in Bergen and St Petersburg, and provides fuel and lubricants to some of Norway's leading shipowners and operators. The company employs 12, and will retain its existing brand name, operating as an integrated and wholly owned subsidiary of OW Bunker.
Said Bergen managing director Sveinung Juvsett: "OW Bunker provides a good strategic fit for Bergen Bunkers. With the financial strength and global scale of OW Bunker there are clear synergies between both organisations, which we plan to optimise for the benefit of all our customers."
OW Bunker expects to strengthen operations in Scandinavia, adding that the acquisition will provide a good opportunity grow in an important region for its business.
The acquisition is expected to be finalised by the end of November, following approval from the relevant competition authorities, a joint company statement said.
