UPS opens three healthcare distribution facilities in Asia Pacific
ATLANTA's United Parcel Service (UPS) is expanding its global healthcare distribution network in Asia Pacific with the opening of three new facilities in Hangzhou, Shanghai and Sydney.
The new facilities offer a combined 35,000 square metres of distribution space, bringing the total number of the group's dedicated healthcare facilities worldwide to 36, covering more than 1.5 million square metres.
"Asia is our fastest-growing market for healthcare and we are seeing increased activity in the region, especially in China, where a growing demand for acute and chronic care has driven the need for reliable, flexible and compliant supply chains to serve a highly dynamic market," said Bill Hook, vice president, global strategy, UPS Healthcare Logistics.
The new facility in Hangzhou opened in the third quarter of this year and consists of 22,000 square metre of healthcare distribution space. The Shanghai facility, located within the Waigaoqiao Free Trade Zone, covers 7,575 square metres and provides access to one of the largest consumption markets for healthcare products. UPS's Sydney facility has 5,388 square metres of distribution space, serving companies looking to set up distribution in Sydney to serve regional markets. Last year, it opened a healthcare facility in Singapore.
"The three new facilities, along with our existing Singapore facility are strategically located across key, growing healthcare markets in Asia Pacific and are targeted to support our clients as they grow their business," said Craig Foster, senior vice president, Supply Chain and Healthcare Logistics, UPS Asia Pacific Region.
