DP World's CT3 to install CyberLogitec OPUS TOS to boost box capacity
DP World has signed an agreement with CyberLogitec based in Seoul to install its OPUS Terminal Operating System (TOS) at its Container Terminal 3, which is to expand capacity to 19 million TEU by 2014.
The new TOS will add four million TEU in additional capacity to the Jebel Ali Port operated by DP World in the UAE region.
Container Terminal 3 has a quay length of 1,860 metres, a draft of 17 metres, a 70-hectare storage yard and will be equipped with 19 ship to shore (STS) quay cranes and 50 rail mounted gantry (RMG) cranes.
OPUS TOS has modules to support the sophisticated operational requirements of the new terminal as well as interfaces to other existing systems at the port to provide seamless services to customers, the Khaleez Times reported.
DP World, UAE regional vice president Mohammed Al Muallem, said the innovative technology in place at Jebel Ali Port is designed to ease congestion across the port area, from the berths to the gates.
