Heihe trade slips on weak Russian economy, currency, high Chinese prices
THE Heihe checkpoint on the Sino-Russian border with Heilongjiang province has posted a 70 per cent year-on-year decline in the first nine months in the garment trade with volume falling 60 per cent as footwear dropped 50 per cent, reports Xinhua.
The export decline was attributed to the diversion of cargo to other checkpoints. The report also said that Russia's economy was suffering and was not as ready to buy more costly Chinese goods, a situation worsened by a weaker rouble.
