Lufthansa in winter: Adds Tel Aviv, Istanbul, Cairo - subtracts Chongqing
GERMANY's Lufthansa Cargo has announced that as part of its winter schedule beginning October 28, it will begin new service to Tel Aviv four times a week with MD-11 freighters and three times via Istanbul.
But Chongqing service, launched last March, will be suspended during the winter.
"Despite the fact that market conditions are not easy, we are offering customers new services in our winter schedule," said Andreas Otto, member of the Lufthansa Cargo executive board for product and sales.
This winter the carrier is also expanding services to Egypt. Freighter flights from Cairo to Frankfurt, which were reinstated in March, will be continued during winter. Frequencies on this route will be increased to three flights a week. The Frankfurt-Cairo route will be served once a week via Istanbul by an MD-11 freighter.
"The new freighter flights to Tel Aviv and Istanbul as well as increased frequencies on our route to Cairo will enable us to further strengthen our presence in growth markets in the Middle East," said Dr Otto.
This winter, the airline will serve a total of 49 destinations with freighter aircraft.
