Damco names Preben Hansen CEO of New Times International Transport

DAMCO North Asia, the logistics arm of the AP Moller-Maersk Group, has named Preben Hansen as the new CEO for New Times International Transport Service (NTS), who will be based in Shanghai and reports to Henriette Hallberg Thygesen, CEO for Damco North Asia.

Mr Hansen joins Damco North Asia at a time of steady progress and high expectations, where the company has set out on an ambitious growth path, especially in China, to become a major player in the global logistics industry.

Damco acquired NTS in 2011. NTS is a top air capacity provider in China, providing air products out of China, managing carrier relationships, handling air operations and co-loading business. Damco since then strengthened its airfreight operating platform in China, with three gateways in Beijing, Shanghai and Hong Kong, a company statement said.

"I am very happy to see Preben joining Damco North Asia and I am convinced that he will be a strong addition to our regional leadership team," said Ms Hallberg Thygesen.

Mr Hansen's latest position was the country manager of Bangladesh, a role he has held since 2005. Under his leadership, the company is now the third largest air freight forwarder in Bangladesh and is confident of reaching the number one spot in about nine months time.
