Shenzhen Airport's exports set records as flowers and fruit volume soars
AS the Golden Week holiday draws near, Shenzhen airport is seeing a peak season in its cargo business with daily outbound freight volume climbing to 1,200 tonnes, the new record in this year, Xinhua reports.
The airport said shipment volumes from Air China, China Postal Airline and SF Express, the largest domestic express company, have been growing sharply as domestic parcels surged from 15 to nearly 40 tonnes.
Inbound cargo volumes have also been increasing rapidly. In the half month from September 1 to 16, arriving domestic cargo grew 11.3 per cent over August to 99.38 million tonnes. Fresh flowers increased 3.6 per cent year on year to 198 tonnes. Vegetables and fruit jumped 27.1 per cent to 459 tonnes. On September 16, inbound domestic cargo hit 751 tonnes, 27 tonnes more than the daily record in August.
