United Airlines to lay off Guam cargo ground handlers, ticket agents
GUAM's largest employer, United Airlines, has begun restructuring, with its first layoffs for 40 ticketing agents at its Guam reservation office, effective November 9.
The carrier's Century Plaza office will remain open, but those still employed will be redeployed to a ticket office at the airport.
Air cargo service workers are expected to be next, reported the Guam News, which added that United's Cargo service will be outsourced with numbers of cargo workers to be reduced over long-term.
