Cape Town's development forum to focus on African Ports Evolution
THE African Ports Evolution 2012 Forum on November 20-22 will be held in Cape Town, drawing logistics and shipping experts and executives from all over the world.
The focus will be on the Port of Cape Town, the second biggest deep water container port in Africa, and expects to expand annual capacity to one million TEU in 2013.
The port is ideally suited to serve as a hub for cargo between Europe, the Americas and Africa, Asia and Oceania. This year the nation sets the stage for African maritime strategy building between ports authorities, terminal operators, and importers and exporters, who are attending the forum, reports Dredging Today.
South Africa's recent entry into the BRICs (Brazil, Russia, India, China) agreement coupled with Transnet's Market Demand Strategy initiative are two of the factors propelling the nation's coastal development, it said.
