Chongqing subsidises container terminal handling charges US$22.79/TEU
THE Chongqing government has decided to continue the container terminal handling charge subsidising scheme after one year's operation, Xinhua reports.
Container cargo shippers, ground transporters and waterway carriers are covered by the scheme. For foreign trade cargo, every laden TEU will get CNY144 (US$22.79) subsidy and FEU will get CNY365, while empty TEU will get CNY31 and FEU will get CNY100. For domestic trade cargo, every laden TEU will get CNY40 and FEU will get CNY43.
Waterway-waterway transshipments carriers can get CNY288 per laden TEU for foreign trade cargo and CNY62 for empties, CNY730 for laden FEU and CNY200 for empties. For domestic trade cargo, they can get CNY80 per laden TEU, CNY186 per laden FEU and CNY47 per empty FEU. 45-foot containers can enjoy the same treatment as FEUs.
Private and state-run companies will be treated no differently in the subsidising scheme. Terminals in Wanzhou and Fuling are also applicable as those in main city area of Chongqing.
