EU joins Japanese and US trustbusters probing alleged ro/ro cartel
THE European Union is joining Japanese and US trustbusters in investigating alleged cartel activities in the maritime shipping industry regarding anti-competitive behaviour in the ro/ro sector, targeting the shipping of cars, trucks and construction equipment.
The US Department of Justice has also started working with the European Commission (EC), the Japanese Fair Trade Commission and other international anti-trust authorities to probe the possibility of violation of EU competition rules of shipping firms.
The EU did not identify the suspected companies allegedly in breach of the rules for transporting cars, and construction and agricultural rolling machinery, reports Bloomberg.
