APL Logistics, Con-way Freight add Jakarta to guaranteed freight services
PARTNERS APL Logistics based in Singapore and US trucker Con-way Freight have begun transporting guaranteed day-definite containerised freight shipments from Jakarta, Indonesia to North America.
The addition of Jakarta brings the number of origin ports for the partners' guaranteed services to 14. The service was recently expanded to the south China port of Xiamen, and Fuzhou, which is linked to the Ocean Guaranteed network by truck.
The OceanGuaranteed service for less-than-container-load shipments from Asia to Canada, Mexico and the US provides delivery on a pre-determined date or a refund if the date slips. "APLGuaranteed" is a similar service for full container loads.
Said Con-way Freight president Greg Lehmkuhl: "Today's expansion underscores the market's recognition of that value and the superior service performance this partnership is delivering."
APL Logistics and Con-way Freight launched OceanGuaranteed in 2006 as the world's first guaranteed shipping service, while APL Guaranteed was introduced two years later. The services are designed to provide shipment reliability usually equated with air freight but at lower cost.
