OOCL to levy US$600/TEU labour strife surcharge at US ports October 1
HONG KONG's Orient Overseas Container Line (OOCL) has announced that from October 1, a port congestion surcharge will be levied on all shipments originating or destined to the United States in the event of a slowdown or work stoppage at any US port.
A port congestion surcharge of US$600 per TEU, and $750 per FEU and $950 per 45-footers will be assessed to all shipments due to labour unrest, including but not limited to strikes, lockouts, work stoppages or slowdowns at any US port, said the OOCL statement.
