River port of Nantong's eight-month throughput tops 120 million tonnes
RIVER port of Nongtong, situated at the estuary of the Yangtze River to the north of Shanghai, saw its collective throughput since this year exceed 120 million tonnes at the end of August.
The port's full-year throughput is estimated to hit 180 million tonnes by the end of this year, according to Xinhua.
Nantong Vice Mayor Xu Hui said the city should accelerate the integration and upgrade of its terminals and improve transport infrastructure as well as upgrade its rail, road and river feeder network. He also said Nantong will focus on the construction of deepwater navigational channels and logistics parks.
