DB Schenker to run warehouses and distribution for Pepsi in Poland
DB SCHENKER Logistics has been selected as the operator of the four distribution centres (DC) in Warsaw, Lodz, Krakow and Kielce, covering 25,000 square metres of warehouse space.
The contract also covers management of 50 transhipment platforms and transport from factories to the DCs and then from there to the transhipment platforms.
"Our company focuses on continuous improvement and progress. We make every effort to ensure added value in the supply chain of our customers and strengthen their market position through our solutions," said regional Schenker CEO Janusz Gorski.
Through the combination of the distributed network of warehouses for various products of the customer into a single distribution system, PepsiCo will be able to use resources better and respond to the changing needs of the market faster while reducing supply chain costs, said a company statement.
At the beginning of July, the first DC was opened in Lodz, and next locations will be implemented in the coming months.
"Cooperation with PepsiCo is another major logistic project carried out by our company," said Schenker head of warehouse logistics Dariusz Doros. "This is a significant extension of our cooperation; so far the cooperation has covered smaller warehouse operations in Lodz, Bialystok and Gliwice."
