Eight-month volume up 22pc to 153,603 TEU at Estonia's Transiidikeskuse
ESTONIAN's largest container terminal, Transiidikeskuse AS Muuga, boosted its container turnover at 153,603 TEU, a 22 per cent increase on the same eight month period in 2012.
August was a stand out month for the Muuga Port terminal based near Estonian capital of Tallinn handling up to 18,379 TEU and contributing to an eight year increase. Its cargo volumes of 1.8 million tonnes were up by three per cent.
The Muuga general goods terminal handled 429,825 tonnes of general goods, up by five per cent same period 2011, reported Baltic Course.
Muuga Port is based in the southwest part of the Gulf of Finland, 17 kilometres east of Estonia and boasts the deepest berths in the Baltic Sea.
