Singapore reviews supply chain workplace safety for goods and employees
SINGAPORE has reviewed its Workplace Safety and Health (WSH) laws that covers services supporting transportation of goods in 2008 and all workplaces in 2011.
This will allow for greater visibility and ownership from top management to mitigate hazards and to be on the look out for good health and safety track records for those companies which outsource in producing not only quality products but safe workplaces for employees, said Yeo Wee Bon, director for Singapore Manufacturing & Supply Chain Hub for 3M Company.
"Companies that consistently do well in health and safety have a distinct characteristic whereby they value its employees above production pressures," Mr Yeo said.
Periodic audits at contract manufacturers' premises to measure continuing safety standards are advised.
