African Airlines Association to use OAG IT analyser as a planning aid
OAG, a member of UBM Aviation brand and provider of global flight information and aviation analysis, says it is offering its OAG Analyser tool to the African Airlines Association (AFRAA) in an effort to strengthen the group's commitment to the African aviation industry.
The online tool searches OAG databases and "brings an unprecedented level of advanced data analysis functionality, offering AFRAA rapid access to detailed reports ranging from airline and airport route development trends to aircraft usage patterns," said a company statement posted by PRNewswire.
The company-designed the tool for the aviation industry marshals data to identify new service opportunities, forecast future demand, monitor competitor activity, keep up-to-date with market developments, build strategies for developments in the air transport industry, plan profitable investments, determine where to allocate resources at airports, and manage traffic flow.
"Airline capacity in Africa is increasing by an average of five per cent a year and the average GDP growth rate in the continent is also at five per cent, which shows the market offers encouraging potential and signs of growth. By providing AFRAA with OAG Analyser to help with the association's market research, we're pleased to assist the region's industry in better understanding how to meet the demands of that growth."
As part of the deal, OAG has also joined AFRAA's partnership programme.
"As a major global processor and distributor of flight schedules data, travel planners, flight timetables, flight network mapping software, business travel planning products, aviation market reports and flight schedules analysis tools for the passenger and cargo markets, OAG's partnership with AFRAA will help African airlines access all these solutions," said AFRAA commercial director Raphael Kuuchi.
"Working with OAG will assist African airlines in reaching every market with their networks and services easily and cost-effectively," he said.
The African Airlines Association (AFRAA) is a trade organisation of airlines from the member states of the African Union (AU). Founded in Accra, Ghana in 1968 and headquartered in Nairobi, Kenya, its membership includes all the major intercontinental African airline operators, which combined carry 83 per cent of Africa's total international traffic.
