Guizhou's new Zunyi airport opens with flights to Guangzhou, Beijing
AIRPORT of Zunyi, a city in China's hinterland province Guizhou, has officially started operations, Xinhua reports.
With the commencement of operations, there were inaugurations of two new air routes, one from to Beijing and the other to Guangzhou. The two services each offers two flights per week on Tuesdays and Saturdays.
By the end of this year, the airport will also start new routes to Shanghai and Kunming. In 2013, the airport will also launch more services to Chengdu, Haikou and Shenzhen.
Estimation shows that by 2020, the airport's cargo throughput will grow to 2,354 tonnes. Passenger volume is expected to grow to 300,000 while aircraft movement are anticipated to rise to 3,448 flights.
