Purfresh offers partnership scheme to pick growers of fruit and veg

PURFRESH, a provider of active atmosphere and supply chain management technologies for shipping fresh produce worldwide, has announced the launch of its grower partnership scheme.

The programme, designed to create working relationships with growers, analyses the post-harvest supply chain of growers' commodities to provide the best solution to optimise the quality of the delivered product to the consumer. In addition, the programme assures the availability of the technology to preferred customers during peak shipping seasons.

"Purfresh's active atmosphere solution provides shippers with a cost-effective solution to reduce decay, control ripening and enhance food safety of fresh produce shipped throughout the world via ocean transit. Protecting the quality of fresh produce as it travels around the globe is critical, and as a result, demand for our Purfresh technology continues to grow," said president and CEO Brian Westcott.

"To assure we can meet the demand of our preferred customers and provide the maximum benefit of our technology, we created an allotment system that will reserve units for programme participants in advance of anticipated usage," said Dr Westcott.

Certified organic and approved by the USDA and FDA, the company said in a release that its technology uses an active form of natural oxygen-precisely controlled-to kill moulds, yeasts, and bacteria in the air and on surfaces by up to 99 per cent, as well as to consume and regulate ethylene. It constantly monitors the environment inside the reefer throughout the voyage, providing the ability to ship highly sensitive fruits and vegetables long distances.
