Cargotec delivers 12 yard tractors to Canary Islands' Port Las Palmas
FINLAND's Cargotec has delivered 12 Kalmar TT616i terminal tractors, as part of a 14-machine order for new equipment, to Operaciones Portuarias Canarias (OPCSA), which operates the main terminal at the Port of Las Palmas, Canary Islands.
The terminal tractors purchased during the first quarter of the year will replace existing units at one of the largest terminals under Spanish jurisdiction.
They are joined in the fleet by two further additions: a Kalmar DRF 450-60 reachstacker and a Kalmar DCE150-12 forklift truck. All units were delivered in July and have already been put in use to transport containers across the terminal, a statement from the manufacturer said.
The TT616i model is designed specifically for heavy-duty use in port and container terminals with a pulling capacity of 95 tonnes and a lifting capacity of up to 36 tonnes.
OPCSA's terminal at Las Palmas is the sixth biggest terminal in Spain, handling 715,000 TEU in 2011. It offers full service freight logistics with both lo/lo and ro/ro operations for cargo transported between Europe, Africa and South America, connecting directly with over 70 ports worldwide. Most traffic is containerised with some general cargo.
