South China's Hainan province posts 16pc more foreign trade value
SOUTH China's Hainan province registered a year-on-year growth of 16 per cent in import and export value to US$6.68 billion in the first half year, ranking the eighth place in provincial rankings, reports Xinhua.
Export value increased 23 per cent to $1.41 billion while the import value grew 14.3 per cent to $5.27 billion.
The export cargo mainly includes agricultural products and high-tech products while the imports are dominated by natural resource commodities.
The export value of agricultural products grew 9.4 per cent year on year to $300 million, while that of seafood increased 13.7 per cent to $260 million and that of high-tech products up 94.8 per cent to $280 million.
The import value of resource products like crude oil, timber, coal and steel stood at $4.22 billion, accounting for 80 per cent of the total.
