Anhui's Huaihe river port at Bengbu to build US$43.7 million box terminal
THE second phase expansion plan of river port Bengbu in eastern China's hinterland province Anhui has passed official examination to become the first harbour on the Huaihe River to have a container terminal, said Xinhua.
The project is estimated to cost CNY278 million (US$43.7 million) to build, and will cover an area of 27.33 hectares.
An unidentified official from the Anhui Provincial Development and Reform Commission said 20,000 TEU from Bengbu has had to be moved by road and that the new terminal will greatly reduce costs for local shippers.
