Sichuan and Xinjiang sign agreement on transportation cooperation
GOVERNORS of Sichuan province and Xinjiang recently signed a cooperation heads of agreement to widen the scope of cooperation between the two places, Xinhua reports.
According to the agreement, Sichuan and Xinjiang will join hands on building a number of transportation routes between the two places and also connected to Central, Western and Southern Asia.
The railway route connects Xinjiang's Urumqi via Korla, Ruoqiang, Golmud, Barkam, to Sichuan's Chengdu. The expressway route starts from Korla via Qinghai to Sichuan's expressway network. The air route links Chengdu via Urumqi to Central, Western and Southern Asian cities.
In addition to the above routes, Chengdu also plans to launch a railway service from the Chengdu Railway Container Terminal via Alashankou to Duisburg in Germany.
Xinjiang also agrees to improve its customs clearance service to offer greater convenience for transshipments from Sichuan, and encourage Sichuan manufacturers and traders to open branches in Xinjiang.
Besides, Sichuan and Xinjiang will also cooperates on the development and transportation of energy resources such as wind, solar, coal, natural gas, petroleum and coal.
