China-wide July port cargo volume growth slows 3.7pc from June
CHINESE ports lifted a total of 15.1 million TEU in July, up 3.8 per cent year on year, but the growth is 3.7 percentage points slower compared to June, according to statistics posted by the Ministry of Transportation, quoted by Xinhua.
In this month, collective throughput tonnage of these ports increased 3.4 per cent to 810 million tonnes, 2.9 percentage points slower than in June and 12.3 percentage points slower year on year.
Foreign trade cargo grew 4.2 per cent to 250 million tonnes, 7.4 percentage points slower compared to June and 12 percentage points slower than one year ago. Domestic trade cargo climbed three per cent to 560 million tonnes, 1.1 percentage points slower month on month and 12.6 percentage points slower year on year.
From January to July, China's collective port container throughput grew 7.9 per cent year on year to 99.57 million TEU. From January to June, international lines' container volume grew 2.9 per cent, but 5.2 percentage points slower year on year. Feeder lines' box traffic climbed 22 per cent, 3.4 percentage points faster. Domestic trade lanes recorded 15.6 per cent's container growth, 6.2 percentage points slower.
In the seven months, Chinese ports' throughput tonnage increased 6.6 per cent to 5.55 billion tonnes, 7.1 percentage points slower year on year. Foreign trade cargo grew 12.1 per cent to 1.76 billion tonnes, 2.8 percentage points faster year on year. Domestic trade cargo increased 4.2 per cent to 3.78 billion tonnes, 11.5 percentage points slower.
