Caofeidian port area takes delivery of eight Shanghai ZHIC gantry cranes

THE eight new gantry cranes have been delivered to Tangshan's Caofeidian port area in the Gulf of Chihli that separates Tianjin and Dalian on the edge of the Yellow Sea, Xinhua reports.

The gantry cranes are made by Shanghai's Zhenhua Heavy Industries Corporation (ZHIC) and have state-of-the-art container lifting capability of a 40.5 tonnes, a 23.47 metre reach and lifting height of 18.1 metres.

With the new cranes, the Caofeidian multi-use terminal has taken delivery of all the handling gear it needs. After completion of test use of the gantry cranes, the terminal can officially commence operation in September, greatly enhancing its throughput capacity.
