Sino-Kazakhstan cross-border economic centre launches 10 new projects
THE Sino-Kazakhstani cross-border economic cooperation centre at border city Horgos has started 10 new projects, Xinhua reports.
All the new projects are the result of Chinese-investments, including heavy machinery manufacturing plant, agricultural product warehousing and distribution facility, and an auto parts processing facility.
The Sino-Kazakhstan cross-border economic cooperation centre is jointly set up by China and Kazakhstan, which is the first international cross-border economic cooperation programme in the Eurasia under the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) operation framework.
The centre commenced operation in April. So far, 15 projects have been launched there, involving an investment of CNY22.3 billion (US$3.51 billion).
Different from many other cross-border economic cooperation facilities in the world, the 5.28-square-kilometre Sino-Kazakhstani cross-border economic cooperation centre is actually situated on the border of the two countries with 3.43-square-kilometre in China and 1.85-square-kilometre in Kazakhstan.
