Pentagon awards US$365.7 million in contracts for air-sea delivery
GEORGIA's World Airways, New York's Liberty Global Logistics, Arizona's American President Lines and Michigan's National Air Cargo have each been awarded a Pentagon indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity, fixed-price contract award for international commercial multimodal transport.
The US Transportation Command, of Scott Air Force Base, Illinois, has signed contracts for time-definite, door-to-door/port-to-door pick-up and delivery, electronic data interchange, customs processing and clearance of container and breakbulk cargo, reports the Huffington Post.
Work will be performed between various points and ports in and outside the continental United States. The performance period for the base year is from August 1 to July 31, 2013, with two one-year option periods from August 2013 to July 31, 2015.
The first year overall estimated programme value is $365.7 million. This programme has an overall three-year maximum ceiling value of $1.6 billion.
